Snack Announcement: This year our recess/lunch period is from 11:35 - 12:25. Students will go to recess first and then lunch. Lunch will begin at 11:57. Since lunch is much later than the students are used to they are allowed to bring a morning snack with them and, of course, a water bottle.
SNACKS MUST BE NUT FREE, PACKED IN A SEPARATE BAG OR CONTAINER FROM THEIR LUNCH, and HEALTHY!
Attendance: Please make sure your child is coming to school on time. School begins at 8:30 and there is work to be done immediately. If they are coming in late it will become difficult for them to catch up. Also please try to schedule all appointments during after school hours (dentists, doctors, etc.) While I realize this might be difficult at times and necessary, please be cognizant of the strain that can put on the individual student and the class as we try to move through the curriculum.

In The Classroom
Language Arts:
This week we will continue The Candymakers. As we begin Part 2 of the novel students will focus on a new main character. They will continue to make inferences about the characters, but focus more on how they make their inferences. Students will continue to work on summarizing informational text. Students will also begin to use context clues to deduct what words mean. Students will complete Wordly Wise list 4 this week and take the test on Friday. We began an expository writing unit today. Students will choose a topic they are experts on and write a 3-5 chapter book with each chapter being a different informational structure.
Math:
Students will take the test on Thursday for Topic 4. We will be reviewing on Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will take the test on Thursday and we will have a Prodigy Friday. We will begin Topic 5 next week. Students will be sent home with the review we do in class over the next two days. The test review was sent home last week.

Students should be working on their oral history projects! THESE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE COMPLETE BY THURSDAY, however we are not presenting until next week, so if students need a bit more time they can work on it over the weekend. It does need to be complete by Monday, 12/6.
